Can I download Windows XP on a Compaq if the CD is from Dell?

Toshiba Computers
The answer is, it might or it might not work. I once had a Compaq and it would not allow me to install an OEM from an IBM. I did find a workaround for it, but that was so long ago, I do not remember what I did.
Alot of it has to do with info in the Bios. You may also have a problem trying to re-activate the copy. There are many possible variables that could change the answer to yes it will work, or no it won’t.

Apple Computers
Depoends on the motherboard and BIOS. Some computer manufacturers use the same brand of motherboard and usually their restoration disc may work.
Putting the disc ain and seeing if it will actually work will not hurt the computer. when it starts asking for other confirmation to start installing then you know it should work and all should go according to plans.
